Abstract

Cationic substitutions for Cu in the bismuth oxide superconductors change the structural modulation of these compounds by allowing insertion of extra oxygen in the Bi layers. Raman spectra of these compounds aid in identifying the presence of the extra oxygen as well as other major structural modifications. © 1989.
