Microstructure of epitaxial La0.5Sr0.5CoO 3/ferroelectric Pb0.9La0.1 (Zr 0.2Ti0.8)0.975O3/La 0.5Sr0.5CoO3 heterostructures on LaAlO 3

Abstract

The microstructure of epitaxial La0.5Sr0.5CoO 3(LSCO)/ferroelectric Pb0.9La0.1(Zr 0.2Ti0.8)0.975O3/ La 0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) heterostructures on [001] LaAlO3(LAO) has been investigated by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The ferroelectric film which is predominantly c-axis oriented, with a small degree of a-axis orientation, is epitaxial with the underlying LSCO and does not show any interfacial reaction. The LSCO film is epitaxial with the LAO substrate. LSCO films shows a doubling of lattice periodicity which is shown to be a TEM specimen preparation artifact.
